VSPT 0.2.5

The engine hooks changed: after updating, the main menu asks to patch the engine again, and downloads VSPT: Materials 0.2.5. Click Fix and restart.

Glass: rough glass (satin, frosted) now blurs what’s behind it instead of speckling, and glass bodies like opal, milk glass and alabaster glow when light comes through them from behind (both on the Materials page; the second is off on Low). Solid glass now shows a clean image through it. A material can set its own refractive index and absorption, so coloured glass tints by its thickness.

Lights: flames flicker (torches, candles, fires, lava, embers, the stove and paper lanterns). Glowing blocks now cast shadows instead of letting light through. Glowing glass is a light of its own. The resonance archive’s Jonas lamps light the cave, and its echo chamber is traced.

Settings: a See-through switch beside the time of day on the Path Tracing tab shows the world behind the settings, on every tab; a time of day slider previews the sky while you change things. Far terrain distance (512 to 8,192 blocks) and a far terrain share of video memory.

Video memory: when the card is full, chunks are given up from the outside in, never next to you, and far terrain keeps its own share. A video memory pie on the debug screen (Alt+F3).

Mod compatibility: LibGUI and Scribe’s windows show over the ray traced view. Other mods’ outlines and grids (Dense Ground Storage, GlassView and others) are drawn. Other players drawn by PlayerModelLib are traced. The liquid reservoir in the archive no longer flickers against its glass.
