Vintage Story, path traced

A mod that draws Vintage Story with a real-time path tracer. Light comes from the sun, the sky, torches and lava, and bounces, reflects and glows the way it does in the real world. Native HDR, on NVIDIA RTX cards.

What it does

Light from real sources

Torches, lanterns, lava, the sun and the sky light the world, with soft shadows and light that bounces off what it hits. A cave is dark until you bring light into it.

Reflections and glass

Water, metal, polished stone and glass reflect and refract what is really around them, on screen or not.

Materials for every texture

About 9,000 of the game's textures have hand-made relief, roughness, metal and glow, at the game's own pixel size. The pixel art stays pixel art.

HDR from the first ray

On an HDR display highlights go brighter than white. SDR is drawn from the same picture.

DLSS

Ray Reconstruction cleans up each frame; frame generation and Reflex where your card has them.

Works with mods

Modded blocks get a sensible material without any work. Modders can give them better ones: the guides.
